Dr. Nasir Abbas Nayyar is a distinguished Urdu critic and fiction writer, regarded as a pioneer of postcolonial studies in Urdu. His many books include Jadeed aur Mab’ad-e-Jadeed Tanqeed, Lisaniyat aur Tanqeed, Matn, Siyaq aur Tanazur, and the award-winning Urdu Adab ki Tashkeel-e-Jadeed. His recent book Mera Dagestan Jadeed has gained notable scholarly attention. He has served as Professor at Oriental College, University of the Punjab, and as Director General of the Urdu Science Board. He was awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for his contributions to literature and criticism. He is currently Head of Publications and edits the Urdu research journal Bunyad at the GCLL, LUMS, Lahore.
