Dr Muhammad Saeed Akhter

Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English at Riphah International University, Faisalabad Campus, Pakistan.

He is Convener of the Board of Studies, and member of the Board of Faculty at the same university. He is former Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of English of Women University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Bagh, Azad Kashmir. He was also Director of the Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR), and Convenor of the Board of Studies at that university. He has been visiting member of the faculty at various universities and other prestigious institutions. He is former Head of the Department of English and former Vice Principal of Islamabad Model College for Boys, G-6/3, Islamabad. He is also former Chairman of the Department of English of Islamabad Model Postgraduate College H-8, Islamabad. He has been a member of the Boards of Studies of the University of Punjab Lahore, Riphah International University Faisalabad and Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. He has been a member of the National Curriculum Revision Committee of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. He has a career as teacher trainer as well. He is a member of the Board of referees of various research journals. He has formerly held the positions of Programme Coordinator, Conference Coordinator, Workshop Coordinator, Academic Coordinator and Newsletter Coordinator of Society of Pakistan English Language Teachers (SPELT), Islamabad Chapter. Apart from his formal degrees of masters and doctorate in English (Pakistan), he has professional degrees of Postgraduate Diploma in English Language Teaching (Pakistan), Diploma TEFL (Pakistan), and a certificate on Crossing the Border: from Teaching to Training (England) on his credit. The research areas of his interest include English language teaching (ELT), syllabus designing, curriculum development, language policy and planning, multilingualism, and education policies with special focus on Asian countries. He has supervised a number of research scholars. He has published at international level. He has participated in ELLTA Conference, Bangkok, NELTA Conference, Katmandu, International Conference of University of Malakand and SPELT International Conferences, Islamabad and Abbottabad in different positions of plenary speaker, chair, and presenter. He has multifarious intellectual interests.
